Mary Frances Wimberly, 80, of Perrin was called home by the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer.
Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Perrin followed by graveside service in Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro. Visitation: The family will receive visitors 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Coker Funeral Home of Jacksboro.
Mrs. Wimberly was born on Jan. 5, 1928, in Gibtown to the late Joel and Eula Shipley. Frances was the first born of their five children. On Dec. 20, 1947, Mary Frances Shipley wed E.J. Wimberly of Perrin. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of First Baptist Church of Perrin and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.
Known as an excellent business woman, Mrs. Wimberly worked for the Texas Cattlemen's Association, the Fort Worth Stockyards Livestock Exchange, and as the office manager for Bill McDavid Oldsmobile in Weatherford for many years. After 1961, Frances continued to apply her business skills by working with her husband to manage and improve the Wimberly Ranch in Perrin.
For all that had the pleasure of knowing her, Mrs. Wimberly served as a model of gracious strength, patient love as well as genuine sincerity and compassion. She was a thoughtful, kind, loving and elegantly classy lady who gave quietly to her church, community, family and friends. Her graceful presence and engaging smile will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Wimberly.
Survivors: Son, Edward James Wimberly of Perrin; granddaughters, Jaime Elaine Wimberly, Shelby Dawn Wimberly, Tyler Nicole Wimberly, Sydney Denise Wimberly and Taylor Cheyenne Wimberly; sisters, Billye Ricketts of San Antonio and Sammie Clark of Arlington; brothers, Leon Shipley and wife, Wynell, of Fort Worth, Curtis Shipley and wife, Debbie, of Saginaw; nieces and nephews, Lanna W. Moxley, Marilyn Wimberly, Rick Ricketts, Lydia Donley and husband, Steve, Bret Shipley and wife, Marti, Kevin Shipley and wife, Sheila, Robert Clark, Elizabeth Clark, Chuck Shipley and wife, Susan, Erica Goode and husband, Steve, Melissa Magee and husband, Corey, Sheila Palloch and husband, Chris, and Amy Shipley; and 18 great-nieces and great-nephews.
