Mrs Irene E. King,94.of 31 Wardwell St.,Adams,widow of Henry M.(Ray)King and former employee of W.S.Rice Inc.,died Sunday Nov.6,at Madonna Home. Mercy Hospital,where she was a patient for five years.
Funeral services were Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Episcopal church,Adams,with Rev.Cecil Wagstaff,pastor,officiating. Burial was in Depauville Cemetery.
Donations may be made in her name to the South Jefferson Rescue Squad or the church memorial Fund.
Survivors include one daughter Flora I. King,Adams;nieces,nephews and cousins. Four sisters and two brothers died before her.
She was born July 9,1889. on Wolfe Island,Ont.,the daughter of Charles and Isabelle Bamford Halliday. She was educated on Wolfe Island. She married Henry M. (Ray) King on Jan.12,1910 at Christ Episcopal Church,Clayton. Following the marriage,the couple lived on the King family farm in the town of Clayton. After running the farm for a dozen years,they moved to Adams in 1922.
Both Mr. and Mrs. King were employees of W.S.Rice co.,Mr. King for 27 years and Mrs. King for 15 years.(one clipping said 25 years.) Mr. King died Dec.22,1955 at the age of 72.
Mrs. King was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church,Adams.
