Rolla Hoffman Dead

The town was shocked Friday evening when the word was received that Rolla S. Hoffman, 56, had fallen over dead at the Fred Imhoff farm southeast of town. Roll and his oldest boy had been helping with the threshing and Roll had complained about feeling bad and had been asked to come in the house and rest, when he fell over dead. A heart disease was believed to have brought his death. He had not been in good health for several months, but was able to do what work he could get.

Mr. Hoffman was born in Cherokee, Aug. 6, 1876, and had lived here all his life. For fifteen years he had been employed as a switchman and brakeman for the Frisco railroad.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Alice Hoffman; three daughters, Mrs. Maurine Montee of Pittsburg, Mrs. Erma Scott of Crestline and Miss Eleanor Hoffman of Pittsburg; eight sons, Harold, George, Lewis, Clyde, Ernest, Richard, Robert and Jack, all at home; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Rhodes of Chicago, and two brothers, Ernest Hoffman and Clyde Hoffman, both of Cherokee.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Sunday afternoon and burial was in the Cherokee cemetery.
