ANN LAKE PIONEER
CROSSES GREAT DIVIDE

Funeral of J.D. Hall Held Last Saturday
Survived by 3 Children

As the pages of a day book are drawn to a close, never to be reopened save for the history that has been in this year of our Lord, so were the pages of the day book of our old friend closed and balanced, and we believe that there was written across the last pages the cheerful and comforting words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the everlasting."

Joseph David Hall was born June 23rd, 1823 at Ashfield, Mass., where he spent his boyhood days, and died Thursday, January 4th, 1917. In the year 1855 he was married to Miss Zerviah Hamblin, at Gouverneur, N. Y. , where they resided for about 33 years.

For the past 26 years both he and his wife made their home with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Archer, formerly of Mora, now at Ann Lake township, and during their residence in this village made many acquaintances. Mrs. Hall survives her husband at the age of 84 years. Deceased also leaves a daughter, Mrs. J. C. Archer and two sons, Arthur C. and Harry A. who reside at Fulton, N. Y.

Although a man nearly 94 years of age, Mr. Hall had suffered no serious illness until recently, the cause of his death being acute bronchitis.

Funeral services were held at the Archer home last Saturday; Rev. Achterkirch of Ogilvie, officiating and the remains brought to Mora Sunday and interred in Oakwood cemetery.

Note: There is a discrepancy regarding Joseph's day of death between two sources. Transcribed MN Death Record indicates he was born January 5, 1823, vs his 1917 Minnesota obituary, January 4, 1823.
