Son of Lewis Jacob & Alice Hendrix Mann.

His first wife was Julia Busha Mann; the 1930 Census recorded her response to "Age at First Marriage" as 17, so the marriage year is estimated to be 1928. They were the parents of one son. Date of divorce unknown. Julia later married Urel Paul Mitchell, widower of Annie M. King Mitchell.

His second wife was Sue Couch Mann, married February 24, 1951 in Greenville, SC, by J.H. Wasson. She survived him at the time of his death and later married John Crawford Floyd Jr. Sue was buried next to J.C. after her passing in 2013.

Mr. Mann's obituary stated he passed away at his home, 208 Spruce St, Woodside Heights community, after declining health of over a year and a serious illness of six months. He was employed in the weave room of Brandon mill prior to his illness, and attended Woodside Baptist Church.

Survived by his wife; a son, J.C. Mann, Jr. of Greenville; four grandchildren; three brothers, L.T. Mann of Greenville, and Clarence Mann and Burvin Mann, both of Waterloo; and two sisters, Mrs. Charlie Lesley of Ware Shoals and Mrs. Randall C. Walker of Plant City, FL.

Funeral services: Tuesday, June 14, 1966, Woodside Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Carl A. Fiske and Rev. Mickey G. Smith.

Burial: Greenville Memorial Gardens

Pallbearers: Tom Mann, George Robertson, Sherman Mann, Linton Mann, Roger Mann, and Beauford Mann.

As was still the custom of the day, his remains were returned to the family home for visitation until the time of the funeral.
