She was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on February 4, 1939. Her parents Roman and Martha (Jacoboski) Nespodzany brought her home to their farm, where she lived until graduating from high school. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and worked at the First Wisconsin National Bank. On February 4, 1963, she married Park Johnson. After raising her sons, she worked at the North Shore Federal Credit Union for many years. JoAnn was a longtime member of St. John's Catholic Church, and was a member of the Grand Marais Garden Club. Her two grandsons and family and friends were her greatest enjoyment. She was preceded in death by her parents.
JoAnn is survived by her husband Park, son, Jeff of St. Paul; son, Tim (Vanessa), grandsons, Logan and Jack all of Breckenridge, Colorado; and brothers and sisters, John (Kathy) Nespodzany, Janet (John) Kelly, Judy (Gerald) Stemper, Roman Nespodzany Jr., and Joyce (Edward) Wallace. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial, Friday October 3, 2008 at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
