SFC Donald Craig Nelson was aboard Arrow Air Flight 1285 when it crashed after takeoff from the Gander Newfoundland International Airport.

He was among 248 members of the legendary Fort Campbell Screaming Eagles who were returning from a 6 month peacekeeping mission in Sinai, Egypt. Along with 8 crew members, all 248 soldiers were killed instantly.
