Charles was born in Scotland and relocated to Minnesota with his family around 1887 before relocating to Montana where he was one of the first professors chosen for the faculty at Carrol College in Helena. He was a professor of Stenography and the Director of Athletics. He ended life as parish priest of Saints Cyril and Methodius Church.
