Francis Marion Ashmead was my great-grandfather. I know that his gravestone has the two names reversed and I have seen it reversed on possibly a census, but his name was actually Francis Marion. Family legend has it that Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, is an ancestor and that is why Great-grandfather's name was Francis Marion. I will continue to add to his memorial. I believe there were five children born from this marriage.
