Bert B. Compton, 79, Springfield, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday in his Home after a long illness. Born in Strafford, he had been a resident of Greene County most
of his life. He was a retired brick mason and a farmer. He was also a member of Brown Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Pauline E. (Slavens) Compton; three daughters, Betty Morelock, Barbara Peak, and Bonnie Seller, all of Springfield; a son, Gene Fergus, Kansas
City; two brothers, James Compton, Strafford, and Harold Compton, Springfield; , a sister, Dorothy Cookson, Springfield; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grand-children. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Klinger Chapel with the Rev. Robert Mingus officiating. Burial will be in Danforth Cemetery.
