Memorial services for Vivian Beryl Johnson were held Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1993, 2 p.m. at Utoft-Johansen funeral Chapel in Lake Benton, MN, Pastor Tom Reagan officiating. Diane Evers was organist and the congregation sang, "The Old Rugged Cross".

Honorary casket bearers were Steven Newell, Josh Newell, Brian Ritter, Travis Tippery, Justin Newell and Hans Ritter.

Utoft-Johnansen Funeral Home, Evan Rogers, director, made the arrangements.

Vivian died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1993 at Pipestone County Medical Center at the age of 61 years, 11 months and 18 days.

Vivian was born October 29, 1931 at Ruthton, MN to Andrew and Bertha Marie Fisher Strolis. She attended school in Ruthton and later moved to a farm near Lake Benton where she raised her family. She married Gerald Johnson March 13, 1964 at Lake Benton. After marriage the couple farmed near Lake Benton 12 years and then operated the Hilltop Gas Company for five years. They retired and moved into the Hole in the Mountain Apartments where they lived for the past two years.

Vivian was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years and enjoyed fishing and craftwork.

She is survived by her husband Gerald "Butch" Johnson, Lake Benton; three sons, David Newell, Brookings SD; Rich Newell, Holland; and John Newell, Milwaukee, WI; two daughters: Robin Ritter, Lake Benton and Pam Tippery, Pasco, WA; two brothers, Harlan Strolis, Tucson, AZ and Harold Strolis, El Cajon, CA; two sisters, Marian Albitz, Lewes, DE and Betty Waheke, Pipestone. Thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
