He was the youngest of nine children born to Marvin Erastus Powell, Sr. and Edna Cecelia Barco Powell. Jim served in the US Army during WWII, was an ordained Baptist minister, worked at T G Lee Dairy, and was a beloved brother, husband, father and grandfather.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Marvin (1881-1947), and mother, Edna (1886-1973). He was brother to Erastus T. Powell (1908-1977); Eunice Powell Dickinson (1906-1989); Edwin Sim Powell (1911-1984); Gladys Powell Lipthrott (1913-2006), Marvin E Powell, Jr (1916-1991); Margaret Powell Murdoch (1919-2010); all buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Orlando, Orange, FL. And brother, Charles Albert Powell (1921-1993), buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
