Bert Burns of Hamburg died Friday at the home of Mrs. Bertha Phillips where he had been living. He had not been in good health and was in the hospital last week for a check-up, but his death was rather sudden and unexpected. He was 67 years old.
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Agnes Church in Belleview, with Rev. John Ratchford, pastor, officiating. Interment was at Belleview.
Mr. Burns was never married, and is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Ross Ruyle of Hamburg; and Mrs. Della Clark of St. Louis; a brother, Howard Burns of Batchtown, other other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
Bert Burns was born September 5, 1886 at Gilead and had lived all his life in Calhoun county. He was well liked and highly respected by everyone. The News joins the many friends of the family in extending sympathy to them.
