Funeral services for Mrs. Verna Mae Jolley, 81, of Pennington, who died Wednesday in a Crockett hospital, will be held at 2 pm today in the Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Pennington.
Mrs. Jolley was born Sept. 13, 1909 in Houston County and lived there most of her life. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Huston Tillotson College in Austin and her Master's Degree from Texas Southern University in Houston.
She taught in Texas public schools for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star of Texas.
Survivors include a son, Harry Jolley of Pennington; brother, Claudie Bryant of Dallas; sisters, Lenora Williams of El Paso and Captola Holley of Groveton; nieces and nephews.
