Darlene M. Dixon, age 78, of 1694 S. Cherry St., Galesburg, died at 3:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
She was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Maquon, the daughter of Russell and Della Cooper Booz.
She married Arthur W. Dixon on Dec. 13, 1953, in Knoxville. He preceded her in death Feb. 21, 2005.
Surviving are son, Arlyn Wade Dixon of Casper, Wyo.; daughter Candy Lynn Knapp of Knoxville; special son Kenneth (Jeanie) Williams of Gilson; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was raised and educated in Maquon, graduating from Maquon High School in 1948.
She was a homemaker and did housekeeping in private homes.
She worked as a technician at the State Research Hospital in Galesburg.
She attended Orange Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Gilson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the funeral home in Knoxville. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
