Earl Fisler, 75, of Monticello died at 5 a.m. today at Kirby Hospital in Monticello, where he had been admitted Tuesday for treatment of injuries received when he was hit by a truck. Mr. Fisler, a weather observer for the U.S. Department of Commerce, was checking water levels at the Sangamon River bridge west of Monticello when the accident occured.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mackey Funeral Home, Monticello, with the Rev. M.L . Shreffler of the Monticello United Presbyterian Church officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may call fro m 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be made to Kirby Hospital Annex.
Mr. Fisler was born Dec. 19, 1895, at Marysville, Ind., a son of Lemuel and Annabelle Thompson Fisler. He was married to Pearl Mosgrove in June, 1946. He leaves his widow and a sister, Mrs. Grace Martin of Monticello. A brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Fisler, a retired farmer, had served for many years as highway commissioner of Monticello Township.
