EAST WENATCHEE - Lena L. Brown, 93, of East Wenatchee and a resident of the Wenatchee Valley for the past 56 years, died Tuesday, June 28, 1994, in the Cashmere Convalescent Center.

She was born July 4, 1900, to Lindsey and Emma (Schindler) Ward at Willapa. Her family moved to Twisp in 1907 and she graduated from Twisp High School in 1918. She then attended Ellensburg Normal School where she received her teaching certificate. She returned to the Twisp area and taught at the Beaver Creek School.

She married Henry J. "Hank" Brown on Dec. 22, 1922, at Brewster, and they made their home at Paradise Hill near Brewster. They moved to Leavenworth in 1938 and to East Wenatchee in 1956. They moved to the Peshastin Creek area in 1966. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Brown moved to the Wenatchee area.

She was very active in the Camp Fire Girls for many years, and was a member of the Navy Mothers in Leavenworth.

She is survived by a son, Jack of East Wenatchee; two daughters, Darlene Brown of Los Alamitos, Calif., and Sharon Munson of Olympia; two brothers, Frank of Plains, Ore., and Victor of Seattle; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, a son and three brothers.
