FRANK G. NEWHOUSE, LAYWER, DIES AT 65

Frank G. Newhouse, 65, of 2600 18th Ave. SW, Rochester lawyer and former Olmsted County attorney, died Monday night at St. Mary's Hospital. He had suffered from Parkinsons's disease for several years.

Mr. Newhouse was born Oct. 3, 1906, in Pine Island, and later came to Rochester with his parents. He attended Rochester High School and Junior College and was graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1929. He served as court commissioner for Olmsted County from 1934-39 and as a special state attorney in St. Paul from 1939-1940. After World War II he returned to Rochester to resume his law practice. He served as special municipal judge from 1945-51 and as Olmsted County attorney from 1951-54.

A . . . veteran of World Ward II, he was active in the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the American Bar Assn., and a past presdient of the Olmsted County Bar Assn. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Osman Temple Shrine and was active in fund drives for cerebral palsy. He also was known as an avid horseman.

Surviving are his widow, the former Florence Swinburne whom he married here on June 10, 1938; a daughter, Mrs. David (Linda) Oliver of Rochester; a son, Douglas of Rochester; one grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Eldred (Elizabeth) Harman of Arlington, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Congregational Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. Raymond Lord will officiatee and burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery.

Friends may call at Towey Funeral Home from noon Wednesday until noon Thursday. The family prefers memorials to the Mayo Clinic Fund for Neurologic and Neurochemical Research.
