"CHARLES L. DYKES -He served in Common Council from 1899 to 1905

Charles L. Dykes, for nearly forty years an undertaker in the Falls of Schuylkill, died Sunday afternoon at his home at 3552 Queen lane.
He was a member of the old Common Council from 1899 to 1905. In 1902 he was appointed secretary of the State Board of Undertakers by Governor Pennypacker. He was prominent in Masonic circles, having been secretary and treasurer of Palestine Lodge and a member of Lu Lu Temple.
Other organizations to which he belonged are Germantown Chapter No. 208, R.A.M. and Philadelphia Consistory, A.A.O.N.M.S. He was for some years director of the Manayunk Trust Company.
Mr. Dykes retired from business two years ago because of ill health. He is survived by his wife."
