Maxine Hambel, 90
GLOUSTER - Maxine Hambel, 90, of Glouster, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at her residence.
She was born June 8, 1916, in Morgan County. She was the daughter of the late William A. and Estella M. Shepard Updike. She was the former owner and operator of the Hambel Hilltop Market in Morgan County. She later worked at the Burr Oak Lodge. She was a member of the East Branch Church of Christ in Morgan County.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy M. (Joseph A. Sr.) Dunlap of Glouster; two grandchildren, Joseph A. Jr. (Candy) Dunlap of Trimble and Joni M. (Doug) Watt of Glouster; and six great- grandchildren, Rick and Lacy Nott, Kaylee Dunlap and Joseph A. Dunlap III, Douglas L. Watt Jr. and Sarah Watt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank L. Hambel, whom she married on Feb. 5, 1938; one brother, Gerald Updike; and one sister, Deloris Gladdin.
Calling hours will begin at 11a.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.
