A resident of Karnes City, he passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at the age of 82 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

Parents: Andreas and Anna Winkler Voigt.

On Feb. 17, 1940, in Karnes City, he married Elsie Fenner, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Voigt was a retired farmer, rancher, and painter.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Karnes City and was active in numerous church organizations. He was a member of Hochheim Prairie Farm Mutual Insurance.

Mr. Voigt lived most of his life in the Karnes City community.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City. The Rev. Arnold Moede officiated the services.

Pallbearers were Jessie Jonas, Jeremy Voigt, Mark Voigt, Todd Grimsinger, Scott Grimsinger, and Gerald Kowald.

Honorary pallbearers were Blas Escobedo, Robert Busselman, and Gary Wegner.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Voigt was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Voigt and Herbert Voigt.

He is survived by: son, James Voigt and wife Nita; daughter, Jo Ann Barnard and husband James; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; special companion, Wilma Peterson
