Son of Charles Christopher & Hannah (Hardin) Springer. Husband to (1) Jane (Parr) Springer & (2) Rebecca (Peckenpaugh) Springer. Father to eleven children: (w/ Jane) William Mordecai, Nancy Jane, Charles Floyd, Mary Hannah Cordelia, Elihu Farrington, Lewis Bloomfield, Elizabeth Comfort, Sarah Winifred, and a son. (w/ Rebecca) Rebecca Ann and Margaret Missouri Springer.

Civil War veteran. Sergeant in Co. G, 2nd Missouri State Militia Cavalry Regiment.

Born near Springfield, Washington Co., Ky and died at his home south of Green City, Sullivan co., Mo. His first marriage was to Jane Parr, June 9, 1830 Washington Co., Ky. His second was to Rebecca Peckenpaugh Jones, June 22, 1847 in McDonough Co., Ill. Her first marriage was to George Jones Jan. 6, 1825 in Crawford Co., Ind. Lewis was a commisary sergeant in Capt. Robbins Co. G. 2nd Regiment of Mo. State Cavalry. He left as a soldier from his home in Sullivan Co. and enlisted at Macon City Mo. Feb. 18, 1862 and was discharged because of old age July 15, 1863. Hewis was the son of Charles and Hannah Harding Springer. He moved from Ky. to Crawford Co. Ill. In 1854 the family came to Sullivan Co. by covered wagon, crossing the Miss. River at Warsaw, Ill.
