Eva Alma WHITLOCK Singleton, called Eva, was the daughter of my second-great aunt and uncle, Matilda Anne DAVIS Whitlock and George Washington Whitlock, Jr. and the niece of my great-grandmother, Littia Anna WHITLOCK Duty.

Eva's maternal grandparents were Eliza Carolyn DUTY Davis and James Davis, along with paternal grandparents, George Washington Whitlock, Sr. and Martha Francis (Mattie) ROBERTSON Whitlock.

Eva was married to Clifton Singleton. They were the parents of two sons and three daughters named Alma Jean, Charles Henry, Elsie Ellen, Edward Lee, and Violet Elizabeth.

Eva never recuperated from the birth of her last child and died one month later from chronic health problems. That child was a son who was stillborn on September 29, 1936.

Her youngest daughter, Violet Elizabeth, was taken in and adopted by Doyle Combs after Eva died.

Eva died at age 46. She was very much loved and missed by her family.

(Eva is shown standing in the back row between her parents and with her siblings when she was just a young girl.)
