The four living children were given to close relatives. The oldest, "Richie" (Regina), age 8 years and 9 months, was given to Mr. & Mrs. Xavier Hoog. (Mrs. Hoog, the former Agatha Naeger, was a sister to the mother of the children--Elizabeth Flieg, nee Naeger) "Richie" later married Henry Zimmerman and became the mother of two children: Marie and Alphons. The second oldest, Martha, age 7 years and 11 months who later became Sister Praxedes, ASC, was given to Mr. & Mrs. Charles Trautman. (Mrs. Trautman, the former Theresa Flieg, was a sister of Henry Flieg, the father of the children.) The two youngest, Catherine, age 3 years and 8 months (later Sister Regina, ASC) and Rose, age 1 year and 10 months (later Sister Estelle, ASC) were cared for by their paternal grandmother, Mrs. Rosa (Joseph) Flieg, nee Hoog. A little brother, Fred, age 3 years, died in 1897, a year before the tragic incident described above. Both parents of these parents of these children died within a period of four months. "Richie" (Regina) died July 17, 1981; Sister Praxedes died September 14, 1972.
