Bessie Mae Graham Scharer, age 93, of South Pittsburg, TN passed away quietly and peacefully at her home on June 23, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Matilda Lyle Graham; several brothers and sisters; husband, Joe Scharer; son, Charles Donald "Don" Scharer; one grandchild, Diana Wynne; two great-grandchildren and son-in-law, Roy W. Ridley, Sr.
She is survived by her children, Patty (William) Barnes of Bryant, AL, Ann Ridley of South Pittsburg, Ted Scharer of Sequatchie, TN, Sue (Jimmy) Stephens of South Pittsburg and Reba Scharer of Chattanooga, TN; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in South Pittsburg and The Order of The Eastern Star in Marietta, GA, Chapter 208. She received her nursing license in 1963 and worked at South Pittsburg Municipal Hospital and at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. Her will to live was surpassed only by love of her family and her love of God.
