Clyde W. Ray, 85, of Convoy route 2, a native of Adams County, died at 8:25 p.m. Sunday in the Vancrest Nursing Home following an illness of approximately six months.
The son of George Austin and Laura Hahn-Ray, he was born in Adams County July 2, 1896. He was married Aug. 2, 1919 in Adams County to Fay Eva Teeple, who preceded him in death Nov. 8, 1980.
Survivors include a son, Corwin Ray, Van Wert route 4; a brother, Marion Ray, and a sister, Margaret Lough, both of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and one sister.
A retired farmer, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Convoy, where he served on the church council and was a past Sunday School Superintendent. He also served for 20 years on the board of directors for the Convoy Equity.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Stainfield Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Swank officiating.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Lutheran Church.
