Funeral was Saturday at Houston Funeral Home for Mabel A. Townsend, 83, 311 Main St., who died Tuesday at a Lebanon Nursing Home.
The Rev. Joe Wiens officiated with burial at the Lebanon IOOF cemetery.
She was born May 26, 1889 in Hartford, Kan. and came to Myrtle creek in 1937 from Colorado, moving to the Lacomb area in 1941. She and her husband operated a grocery in Lacomb until retirement in 1955.
She was married to Henry W. Townsend on January 11, 1909 in Madison, Kan. He died in 1967.
Surviving are five sons, Frecof Eureka, Calif., Orville of Lacomb, Arlie of Hydesville, Calif., Ray and Tom, both of Lebanon; two daughters, Mrs. Zelma Davis of Delta, Colo., and Mrs. Anna Moulton of Eureka, Calif.; a brother, Charles Scharff of Burlington, Kan.; and 22 grandchildren. A son, Emery, died in 1948.
