The 1930 US Census of of Warrior, Jefferson Co., AL enumerated the household of 44 Y/O Luther Franklin Jolly, proprietor of an auto garage, and his 39 Y/O wife, Ida Belle Ragland Jolly. Also living in the household were their children: 17 Y/O James Carl Jolly and 6 Y/O Estelle LaVerne Jolly.

The 08 Apr 1940 US Census of Warrior, Jefferson Co., AL enumerated the household of 54 Y/O Luther Franklin Jolly, a long time proprietor of an auto garage, and his 50 Y/O wife, Ida Belle (Ragland) Creel Jolly. Also living in the household were: 16 Y/O Estelle LaVerne Jolly, daughter of Luther and Ida Jolly; and 30 Y/O Grover Ester Creel, Jr., son of Ida by her deceased first husband, Crover Ester Creel, Sr. Grover Ester Creel, Jr., at the time, was owner manager of a dry cleaning shop, "Warrior Dry Cleaners". Mysteriously, Grover Ester Creel, Jr. was recorded as "single" in the 08 Apr 1940 US Census even though he had married Peggy Nell Chappell on 31 Mar 1940 and she wasn't enumerated in the household.

Estelle LaVerne Jolly married Cecil Walter Adamson on 04 Apr 1942 at Cullman, Cullman Co., AL. At the time Cecil was living in the City of Cullman and LaVerne was living in Warrior. Jefferson Co., AL.

During WWII, Cecil W. Adamson enlisted into the US Army on 12 Aug 1942 at Ft. McClellan, Anniston, Calhoun Co., AL.

Born in Warrior, Ala., on Nov. 7, 1923, to Luther Franklin Jolly and Ida Belle Ragland Creel Jolly, LaVerne Jolly Adamson was the youngest of three children, including her brothers, the late James Carl Jolly, Sr. and Grover Ester Creel (Jr.) [half-brother].

Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 58 years, Cecil W. Adamson, Sr.
Continuing to enjoy her memory are one son, Cecil W. "Skip" Adamson, Jr; daughter, Jill Adamson Payton and husband, Alton; granddaughter, Tiffany Payton Lanius; great-granddaughter, Savannah Payton Lanius, "daughter-in-law" Sachiyo Yamada Adamson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

LaVerne was a devoted, loving wife and mother and successful administrator. She and Cecil, a former NASA employee, raised their family in Huntsville, New Orleans, Atlanta and Knoxville before retiring and moving to Panama City Beach in 1979.

LaVerne enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband shared a love for swing dancing, big band music and boating. They were active members of their church, the First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach, where she served as church secretary for several years.

Her last years were spent at Lisenby Retirement Center, Panama City , FL where she was surrounded with loving care by an experienced and compassionate staff of nurses, aides, support staff, their families, and pets. We are extremely fortunate to have a facility such as Lisenby. Their staff members are our "angels."

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Warrior Cemetery, Warrior, Ala., with the Rev. Jack Collins officiating. Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in LaVerne's name may be made to Lisenby Retirement Center, 1400 W. 11th St., Panama City, FL 32401.
