Mrs. Sarah E. Whitney, 69, widow of Harry J. Whitney, died suddenly Monday night at her home, 1234 Forest Avenue. Mrs. Whitney was born at Unity, May 28, 1877, daughter of the late George B. and Clara Rackliff Pillsbury. She lived in that town most of her life, moving to Portland 15 years ago.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clarissa M. Garnett and Mrs. Leola Stella Plummer both of Portland; two brothers, Edward T. Pillsbury of Fairfield, and Charles Pillsbury of Boston; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at 749 Congress Street. Committal prayers and interment will be at 2 p.m. at Pond Cemetery in Unity.
