Darrell served in the US Army and was a disabled veteran. He held many different professional jobs in his life, such as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service and a deputy sheriff to name a few. He also lived in many different states throughout his life's journey. Darrell loved to joke around and laugh, as well as his passion for football and wildlife animals. His faith was also very important to him and he was baptized July 1, 1955, as a Jehovah's Witness. He was also an active member of Presque Isle Congregation of Jehovah's Witness. He was from a family of eight siblings and was dad to 12 children.
Darrell is survived by his son, Bill Kennedy and his wife, Maureen, of Norway; daughter, Barbara Donahue of Laconia, ID; son, Darrell Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Pendegrass, GA; daughter, Cheri Newman of Riverview, FL; daughter, Teresa Hodges and her husband, Lenny, of Plantation, FL; daughter, Sandra Sellers of New Middleton, ID; son, Benjamin Kennedy of Ormand Beach, FL; daughter, Jerry Myers and her husband, Don, of New Brighton, MN; daughter, Ruth Harvey and her husband, Russell, of Woodland; daughter, Rose and her husband, Scott Redder, of Sheridan, Wyo.; daughter, Jackie Kennedy; and special granddaughter, Crystal Kennedy of Gray. Also surviving are sisters, Marjorie Kahkonen, Theola Raasumaa and Anna Parker; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Darrell was predeceased by a son, Lesley Kennedy; brothers, Freeman and Norman Kennedy Jr; and sisters, Margaret Pike, Hazel Dale and Rose Case.
A graveside service was held at a later date at the Northern Maine Veterans' Cemetery, Caribou.
