Served six months enlistment in the Confederate Army, enlisting Oct 1, 1861, in Co K, 26th Volunteer GA Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, (at first, 1861-1862 "Forest Rangers", CSA Company H later became Company K) and was mustered out April 1, 1862.

Lived in Manor, Ware County, GA.

Mother's surname was JARRELL (aka Jerrold, Jarrold). Was reared by stepmother Julia Ann Newbern Henderson who apparently was the second wife of James Berrien Henderson. They lived near Blackshear, Pierce County, GA

Medical: died of complications of mumps.


Lewis J. Henderson will be included in a Confederate Ceremony being planned in March 2010 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. His Military marker will be rededicated as well as he will have an Iron Cross dedicated at this grave.
