LAVONA LOU DUNHAM WAS THE DAUGHTER OF ABRAHAM "ABE" AND MATILDA ALICE CLIFTON DUNHAM.

SHE MARRIED FERDINAND TILFORD CARROLL ON 29 NOV 1905 IN HAWKINS COUNTY, TENNESSEE. GOD BLESSED THIS MARRIAGE WITH THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: BEULAH MAE, THOMAS HOWARD, ELLA LOU, CHARLES LINCOLN, EZRA CONNER, FERDINAND TILFORD JR, JAMES EVERETT, GOLDIE ALICE, LEATRICE GENELLA, BETTY JO MARCELENE AND TWIN INFANT DAUGHTERS WHO WERE STILLBORN.

VONA LOU DUNHAM WAS THE SIBLING OF MARY JANE, THOMAS JAMES, CARRIE LEE, ANNA MCKINLEY AND PEARL MATILDA DUNHAM.

VONA LOU DUNHAM CARROLL WAS MY MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER.

Vona Lou Dunham Carroll, Route 11, Jackson Road, Kingsport, died at 10:10 p.m., Monday (January 22, 1968) in Holston Valley Community Hospital after a lingering illness. She was born in Hawkins County but had lived in Sullivan County most of her life. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church of Surgoinsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ferdinand Tilford "F T" Carroll; her parents, Abraham "Abe" and Matilda Alice Clifton Dunham; her paternal grandparents, William and Mary Susan Fletcher Dunham; her maternal grandparents, Martin Jones and Delilah Matilda Martin Clifton; three daughters, Ella Lou Holt and a set of stillborn twin girls; three sons, Ferdinand Tilford "Little F. T.," Ezra Conner and James Everett Carroll; one sister, Carrie Lee Dunham and one brother, Thomas Dunham.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Everett (Mae) Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert (Marcelene) Seidel of Wilmington, DE, Mr. and Mrs. Haskell (Nell) Quarry of Surgoinsville and Mr. and Mrs. Earl (Goldie) Wolfe of Kingsport; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Howard (Mary Edith Wills) and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lincoln (Nannie Mae Chapman) Carroll of Kingsport; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wood (Mary Jane) Mayo and Mr. and Mrs. William Conner (Anna McKinley) Dickerson of Surgoinsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Montie Dana (Pearl Matilda) Thurman of Kingsport; 28 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, in the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Hicks and Rev. Dana Crawford officiating.

Graveside services will be held at Carters Valley Community Cemetery in Surgoinsville.
