Glena P. Campbell McCombs was the 6th child of David William Campbell and his wife (and 2nd cousin) Sylvia Celestina Campbell. Glena was born as the 19th century was ending and enjoyed observing the changes that rapidly came in the 20th century. She spoke of hearing of the Wright Brothers flight, but she never learned to drive and never flew in a plane. . She married Alma Andrew McCombs on Jan 2 1918 in Preston Idaho where she grew up. She and Al became the parents of 13 children. All but one lived to maturity. Her first child was born while Al was in France during WWI. Her 2nd child died as an infant. Her children were born between 1918 and 1940. She and her family moved from Idaho to Washington state in the early 1920s where 9 of the children were born. Glena was a grandmother by the time her last child was born. Glena wrote lots of poems about family and God. Some were funny and others were poignent. While her children were young she baked bread and pies every day. Her task in life was caring for her children and learning how to meet the economic problems of raising a family during the depression. She gave great advice to her grandchildren. Glena developed diabetes during her last pregnancy and was not well for the rest of her life. The diabetes contributed to a heart attack that caused her death at age 60. She didn't live to see all of her more than 60 grandchildren. She died on the ranch that she and her husband developed almost 20 years earlier. She was buried in the plot in Preston ID near her infant daughter. After his death in 1970 her husband was buried beside her. They share a stone

She was a loving grandma. A great example of hard work and sacrifice for family
