*****Stephen D. Berry was indicted by the Knox County Grand Jury in the 1867 Reconstruction indictments of numerous KY migrants to Knox County. The charge was "Perjury" the case was tried on a change of venue to circuit court in Macon County. Court record shows State of Missouri vs. Stephen D. Berry. S.D. Berry was acquitted and court cost was charged to State of Missouri. Court record "quashed." A strange suit against the brother of James S. Berry who was killed in action in Union service at Newark August 1, 1862.
