Willard Dempsey Garrett, 84, of Kennett died Friday, May 18, 2007 at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born on Sept. 26, 1922, the son of the late John Jonah and Emily Virginia Orton Garrett, he was an army veteran of WWII, member of the Calvary General Baptist Church, Rural Letter Carriers Association and a retired military and U.S. rural mail carrier.

On July 18, 1952, he married Heraldine Sawyer at Piggott, Ark., who survives the home.

Other survivors include one son, Dempsey Garrett of Conroe, Tex.; a daughter, Emily Garrett of Kennett; one step-son, Wesley Sawyer of Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren, Tori Garrett of Austin, Tex., and Chelsea Garrett of Conroe, Tex.; two step-grandchildren, John Sawyer of Sacramento, Calif., and Melissa Skrdlant of Little Rock, Ark.; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., today, Sunday, May 20, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, May 21 at Bradshaw Funeral Home with Rev. Don Emery officiating.

Burial will follow at Pemiscot Memorial Gardens at Caruthersville.
