Linda M. Greenwood, age 62, Manitowoc, Wi. entered into eternal life, following a courageous six year battle against breast cancer, early on Tuesday morning, Oct. 21, 2008, at Cherry Meadows in Appleton.

Linda was born on Oct. 28, 1945, in Detroit, Mi., to the late Joseph and Stephanie (Tryhuk) Chittle. She graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit, Mich., with the class of 1963. She then went on to complete her education at Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Mich. Linda was a volunteer for the Aurora Manitowoc Clinic on Dewey St., and also for Manitowoc Department of Human Services. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in Manitowoc. Linda enjoyed spending her time reading, cooking, traveling, and mostly the time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren. She was a very loving and caring person who had always placed others before herself.

Linda is survived by her three daughters: Michelle (Craig) Kolasinski, Appleton; Pamela Greenwood, Manitowoc; and Catherine Greenwood, Waukesha; seven grandchildren: Olivia, Sarah, Brenna, Kendrick, Allison, Kennedy and Madelyn; and one sister: Diana (Kenneth) Gertsen, Highland, Mich.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home from 5 until 8 p.m. A prayer service will be led by Deacon Paul Kieffer on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The visitation will continue on Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Waldo from 10 a.m. until the start of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev. Daniel Felton will officiate with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Linda's name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Cherry Meadows in Appleton, and also to the physicians and their staff at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee for the care and compassion they provided to Linda and her family.

For Those I Love and For Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go.

I have so many things to do.

You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears.

Be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love; you can only guess

How much you have in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shown,

But now it's time to travel on alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,

Then let your grief be comforted by trust.

It's only for a while that we must part,

So bless the memories that lie within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on,

But if you need me, call and I will come…

Though you can't see or touch me, I will be near.

And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear

All of my love around you, soft and clear…

And then, when you must come this way alone,

I'll greet you with a smile and "Welcome Home."
