Virgil P. Broxterman, 82, of Topeka, KS, died August 21, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.

He was born December 30, 1916, the son of William and Anna Larkin Broxterman, in Baileyville, KS.

He graduated from Baileyville schools and served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945. He was a jeweler for J.B. Hudson Jewelers in Minneapolis, MN, for 21 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #534, in Topeka. He was a very active and loyal member of the church.

He married Ora Marie High. She preceded him in death (February 26, 1969 in Hennipen County, MN). He married Genevieve Eagan Hawkins on June 20, 1970, in Atchison, KS. She survives.

Other survivors are sons, Mark Broxterman, Alexandria, VA; Charles Broxterman, Seattle, WA; step-sons, Robert Hawkins, Girard, KS; Jerry Hawkins, Hoyt, KS; daughters, Sharylee Zachary, Petersburg, AK; Terry Jenson, Minneapolis, MN; Mary Beth Kuether, Minneapolis, MN; Judy Flodin, Lenexa, KS; sisters, Cecilia McEnaney, Shenandoah, IA; Dorothy Lierz, Seneca, KS; Loretta Carter, Topeka, KS; Anna Sommers, Topeka, KS; Viola Haug, Axtell, KS; brothers, Raphael Broxterman, Baileyville, KS; Kenneth Broxterman, Chicago, IL; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora, his parents, brothers, Aloysisus Broxterman; Lawrence Broxterman; Celestine Broxterman; Gilbert Broxterman; and sister, Rose Broxterman.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Topeka, KS. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
