Presumed daughter of Eldad Curtis and Tabitha Perkins. *see below
.
First wife of Abel Pond, with whom she had 10 children:
Fila Pond
Stephen Pond
Levi Pond
Lydia Pond
Clarissa Pond
Sally Pond
Ira Pond
Abel Pond, Jr.
Harvey Curtis Pond, Sr.
Eunice C. Pond
.
*I believe Eunice was the daughter of Eldad Curtis for the following reasons:
.
1) Eldad Curtis brought his family to Pawlet, Rutland, VT, and was living there in 1790 and 1800. Geography matters: Pawlet is contiguous with Poultney, VT and Granville, NY. These towns are less than 5 miles from the East Poultney Cemetery where Eunice (Curtis) Pond is buried.
.
2) Not only did Eldad Curtis reside in Pawlet, but his second wife Clotilda (Weeks) Curtis died and is buried there. Their daughter, Louis (Curtis) Standish, moved across the State line to Granville, NY, where she lived and died. The History of Pawlet, VT, says that at the age of 90, Eldad Curtis was forced to leave his home in Pawlet and he "crossed the state line," which suggests to me that he went to live with his daughter Louis in Granville.
.
3) Eldad Curtis's third wife, Elizabeth King, died in Poultney, VT in 1831. She is likely buried in the Old Pawlet Cemetery with her first husband John Pomeroy, who died in 1804 and is buried there. Four children of this marriage died in Pawlet - Elizabeth (Pomeroy) Carter in 1845, Olive (Pomeroy) Taylor in 1813, Lucy (Pomeroy) Hastings in 1813, and Margaret (Pomeroy) Blossom in 1825. Elizabeth, Olive and Lucy are buried in the Old Pawlet Cemetery with their father and Margaret is likely buried in the Blossom Cemetery in Pawlet, the family cemetery of her husband Peter Blossom.
.
4) If Eldad Curtis was indeed Eunice's father, then these individuals were all closely related to her - her stepmothers, her brother, and her four half-sisters.
ANY OTHER INFORMATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
