Following an illness of about 10 days, the death of Edward, familiarly known as Dennie, Sullivan, occurred yesterday afternoon at his home, 430 Cayuga St. Death was unexpected, for although Mr Sullivan had been suffering from an attack of pleurisy, his condition was thought to be improving. For the last five years Mr Sullivan had been employed as city fireman, being stationed with company No. 10 at West Gibson St. Peter J Rosar, superintendent of the Scranton fire department, yesterday paid a high tribute to Mr Sullivan, complimenting him both in the performance of his duties as a fireman and as a citizen. Surviving are his widow and five children: Kathleen, Regina, John, Edward and Anna; also his mother, Mrs Catherine Sullivan; one sister, Mary Lewis, and a brother John Sullivan, of Scranton; also a brother, Patrick Lewis [sic] of Butte MT ~Scranton (PA) Republican, Fri 18 Apr 1919
