Born June 30, 1921, at Greenshoals of Harts, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Sara Wiley Adkins. Also preceding her in death were nine sisters, Martha (Burgess) Burton, Hazel (Chris) Lambert, Thelma (Ivan) Curry, Maggie (Wayne) Brumfield, Ella (Tobe) Davis, Velva (Frank) Chapman, Katherine (Taft) Mullins, Lola Belle (Sherman) Abbott and Nora (Den) Mullins; three brothers, Wilson (Margie) Adkins, Fred (Willa) Adkins and Wayne Adkins; a nephew-in-law, Eddie Browning, and nephew, Burgess Edward Burton.
Ora was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and her "babies." She loved the outdoors, music, church, talking on the phone and her five dogs. She was a special lady to so many and devoted her entire life to helping and doing for others and was always putting everyone else's needs before her own. Granny was a strong and wise woman and no words can do justice for all of the good and sacrifices she has done in her life. She has taught so much and so many valuable lessons to so many through the years. Not only will Granny's memory be deeply cherished, her knowledge, strength and wisdom will be forever missed.
A special family left to cherish her memory include a very special niece, Shelia Browning, whom she resided with; two very special great-nieces, Stephanie (Sam) Steele of Harts and Stacy (Jeff) Bell of Chapmanville; two very special great-great nephews, Stephen Cole of Harts and Ryan Garrett of Chapmanville; one very special great-great niece, Sydney Alexis of Harts; a very special nephew, Wesley Burton of Greenshoals; two nephews, Jerry (Delores) Burton of Greenshoals and Ralph Burton of Mud Fork, and three nieces, Faye (Dale) Frye and Debbie (Charlie) Zuspan, both of Point Pleasant, and Joyce Frazier of Chapmanville. Others left to cherish her memory include Joe Lambert and Oretha (Charlie) Workman, both of Greenshoals, Nancy (Tom) Midkiff of West Hamlin, Lou Ann Jeffers of Virginia and Charles Adkins Jr. of Huntington, and many other extended family members too many to list.
