G.E. (Gene) Harrison, 65 of 1035 Vassar Avenue, who retired last July as the division freight and passenger agent for the Santa Fe Railway, died yesterday in a local hospital. He had been under treatment in hospitals in Los Angeles and Fresno since November, 1947.

At the time of his retirement, Harrison had been in the service of the Santa Fe for more than 35 years. He took over the Fresno division office in November, 1936. In the Fresno position he supervised fruit and vegetable shipments throughout the San Joaquin Valley from Modesto to Bakersfield.

He came to Fresno from San Bernardino where he acted as passenger agent for nine years. Previously he had served as the chief clerk in Prescott, Ariz., and as rate clerk, assistant chief clerk and traveling freight and passenger agent in Los Angeles where he first joined the railway
staff.

He was a past president of the San Bernardino Rotary Club and was active in the Fresno Rotary Club. He also was a member of the Fresno County Chamber of Commerce and the First Congregational Church.

He was a former secretary of the University Masonic Lodge No. 394 of Los Angeles and also was affiliated with the Scottish Rite Lodge in Fresno and the Elks Lodge No. 830 in San Bernardino.

His principal hobby, aside from his Rotary work, was fishing.

His survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marguerite Harrison [nee Marguerite Theodosia Hallock]; a son, Albert Harrison of Fresno; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Posson [nee Peggy Gene Harrison] of Madera; a brother, H. A. Harrison [nee John Albert Harrison] of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters Mrs. R[ichard] W[ard] Hankins [nee Mary Nancy Ellen Harrison], of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and Mrs. W[illiam] S. Berry [nee Margaret Louisa Harrison] of Denver, Colo., and four grandchildren.

Rev. John H. Gregg will officiate at the funeral services tomorrow at 3:30 PM in the Lisle Funeral Home. Private Masonic services will be conducted at the grave side in the Belmont Memorial Park."
