J.C. Barley, 95, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at his home. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 18th at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sandra Gardner officiating. Burial will be in the Tye Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
J.C. was born September 18, 1915 in Hope, AR to Walter and Mary Ellen (Cook) Barley. He married Coleta Toland September 27, 1936 in Tye. She preceded him in death February 29, 2004. J.C. was a member of the Tye United Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World. He owned and operated Barley Garage and Wrecking Yard. He was very giving and helped others in need by fixing their cars for free and inviting them to dinner. He was also mayor of Tye from 1976-1980.
Survivors include his daughter, Doris Beddingfield of Tye; son, Bill Barley and wife Marilla of Tye; 3 sisters; 1 half brother; and 4 grandchildren, Ginger Meyer, Bill Johnson, Coy Barley and Bill Barley.
