She was born on Dec. 15, 1926, in Westville, the daughter of Gilbert and Mary Louis Monette Bann. She married Hubert Sterling. He preceded her in 1995.
Survivors include her sister, Shirley Hughes of Westville and brother, Jim (Frances) Bann of Catlin; her nephews, John Bann of Westville, Jay (Angie) Bann of Mapleton, Jim (Mary Ann) Hughes of Westville, Mike (Michele) Hughes of Catlin, John Hughes of Westville, Steve Hughes of Tennessee, Harry Carney of Indiana, and Ronnie Adams of Florida; her nieces, Jamie Bann of Catlin, Linda Olsen of Dyer, Ind., Wanda (Don) Binkendorf of New Lennox, and Denis Corcoran of Matawan, N.J.; and her special friends, Tim and Christy Lewis of Westville. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Vi was retired from GE. She was a member of the American War Dads where she was vice president. She enjoyed playing Bingo.
