Claire was born on Feb 28, 1921 in East Brookfield, MA. She was the daughter of Walter J. Young and Jeannia Marie Derosiers. She moved to Worcester as a teenager and went to Commerce High and Salter Secretarial Schools. Her family still has a farewell autograph book signed by her friends in 1936-37. She met her husband Harry at Northridge Furniture Co. She was a switchboard operator and he was a rug salesman. They married at Notre Dame Church on Feb 20, 1943, and went to visit her brother in the hospital, while dressed in gown and military uniform.

Claire worked at the Veteran's Administration both in Rutland and Worcester for more than 30 years. She founded the Fenner Business Career School which was in operation during the fifties and sixties and offered typing, Gregg shorthand and court reporting. When she died in 1975 she left six children and three grandchildren plus her brother Norman Young of Sutton, MA. Children include: Therese Boucher, Claire and Susan Fenner, Jean Beale, Robert Fenner and Anne Moquin.

Claire was also a woman of deep faith who spent many years in her parish choir, knew how to share encouragement through spiritual books, and was always available for those who needed a few moments of healing prayer.
