Adaline was the daughter of Jerial Smith and Amy Doud. She married Amos Eells in Cadiz, Wisconsin on June 19, 1854. They were the parents of Rufus, Mary, Darwin, Amelia, Harriet G., Bertha H., Nettie S., Charles Edward, James J., William Henry, and George Franklin.

BIO - Adaline (Smith) Eells, daughter of Jerial and Amy Doud Smith, was born in East Randolph, Cattaraugus County, N.Y. on Oct. 23, 1831, and when 14 years old, moved with the rest of her father's family to Winslow, Illinois. She was married to Amos Eells in Cadiz, Wisconsin in June 19,1854, and moved to Ida County in 1879 where she has resided until the time of her death. About 2 years ago, her husband died at this place after a married life of over 37 years. There were born to them 11 children, 6 boys and 5 girls, all of whom are grown and living. She was a member of the United Brethren Church for the past 20 years.

Two sisters and a brother survive her, Mrs. Gaylord of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Mary Tomme of New York, and Alva Smith of Smithland, Iowa. She has been an invalid for many years. She passed away on Jan. 28, 1894.

She leaves 11 children and 11 grandchildren. Her parents, husband, and 2 grandchildren preceded in death. The children who are well know and esteemed in this community are: Rufus Eells of Battle Creek, Iowa; Mrs. Mary A. Borah of Odebolt, Iowa; Darwin A. Eells and Mrs. Amelia A. Brown of Vermillion, S. D.; Mrs. Harriet G. Cowles of DeLamar, Idaho; Mrs. Bertha H. Wilson; Nettie S. Eells; Charles Edward Eells; James J. Eells, William Henry Eells; and George Franklin Eells, all of Battle Creek.

Services were at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. A.H. Campbell officiating. Those present from abroad are: Mrs. M.A. Borah of Odebolt, Jane Gaylord of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Hattie Smith of Smithland, Mrs. Nettie Pierce, and Mrs. Elizabeth Raymond of Danbury, Iowa.
