Velma Ruth Hopkins, 78, of Jerusalem, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at her home. She was born January 5, 1926, a daughter of the late John Marion and Orpha Mae Stump Bridges. She was a former restaurant owner/operator; was a member of the Non-Denominational Fellowship Church at Rupart; and enjoyed taking care of her houseplants and her flower gardens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Roe and 4 brothers, Shannon Bridges, Johnny Odell Bridges, Joel Stanley Bridges, and Coy Bridges.

Survivors include a brother, Troy Bridges of Longview, Texas; 4 sisters, Veda Reed of Kevil, Kentucky, Eunice Robinson of Atkins, Arkansas, Evelyn Kennedy of Kevil, Kentucky, and Johnnie Mae Earnhart of Harrsion, Arkansas; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Shinn Chapel with Rev. Ray Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Witts Spring Cemetery at Witts Spring under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Johnnie, Jason, Jamie, Joel, and Allen Bridges, and Stan Knight.

Visitation will be 6 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at the funeral home.
