Capt.Silas K. Pierce served in the 4th Michigan Cavalry during the Civil War.He entered service in August 1862 and was discharged on July 26,1865.In 1867,he was a founder of the Kent Base Ball Club and was its first President.In the 1880's,he was a partner with his brother Edwin and Erastus Shattuck in the Pierce Brothers & Shattuck merchant tailors.He died at the Morton House in downtown of a heart attack at the age of 62.
