Clyde Shepherd, 89, of Mount Hebron Road, died Saturday morning at his home.

Mr. Shepherd was a lifelong member of Mount Hebron United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Men of Faith.

He was also a member of Glendale Community Club.

Mr. Shepherd was a lifelong farmer and cattle trader.

He was the widower of Bessie Kate Shepherd.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law: Carroll and Linda Neas Shepard; a granddaughter: Heather Nicole Shepard; a grandson and special granddaughter-in-law: Chris and Kim Wells Shepard; a sister and brother-in-law: Louise and Taylor Brooks; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was a son of the late Burnel Lee and Lucretia Johnson Shepherd and was preceded in death by a sister: Selma S. Looney; and seven brothers: Carl Shepherd, Claude Shepherd, Wade Shepherd, Walter Shepherd, Edgar Shepherd, Ernest Shepherd, and Isaac Shepherd.

The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

The funeral service followed visitation at 8 o'clock Sunday evening in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Walter Waddy officiated.

Family and friends will meet in Mount Hebron Cemetery for a graveside service at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, the Mount Hebron Men of Faith, Dr. James Rodgers, Dr. Nathan P. Horner, and Terry Hicks.
