Troy Lee Partin, 87, died at 11 p.m. March 5, 2008, at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.

He was born May 20, 1920, in Middlesboro, Ky., to Bethaine and Ida Belle Mason Partin, who preceded him in death. On Jan. 2, 1946, he married Marie Westbrook, who survives at Richland Manor Nursing Home.

Mr. Partin retired in 1981 from Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton/Lima Locomotive Works. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9142, Ottawa. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a medic in northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and central Europe. He received four Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. Following his return home from the war, he married and moved to Lima. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working around the house and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors also include two sons, Ron (Jan) Partin, of Hendersonville, N.C., and Don (Mary) Partin, of Vaughnsville; five grandchildren, Brett (Tiffany) Partin, Matt (Kelly) Partin, Michelle (Brian) Benko, Laurie (Clete) Nartker and Denise Partin; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorene Bishop, of Vaughnsville; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Extine, of Columbus Grove.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Wireman; and three brothers, Lois Edward and Memphis Partin and Glenn Extine.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Michael Downing will officiate. Burial will be in Vaughnsville Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 9142.
