The son of Shee Jing Wong and Wai Lin Wong, born in Baak Haap, Hoi Ping County, Guangdong Province, China. Hon started in the restaurant business with Wong's Garden City Drive-In in Richmond, B.C. before returning to Chinatown and working with his father at The Wayen Restaurant at 158 East Pender Street, Vancouver, B.C. He then opened Ming's Dining Complex at 147 East Pender and operated it until he retired in the late 1990s. Predeceased in 2006 by his wife, soul-mate and life-long business partner Susan. Laid to rest beside Susan on November 8, 2008
